THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The former River House restaurant was associated with reports of unexplained paranormal activity during its years of operation. Employees and patrons described apparitions, mysterious sounds, and other unusual occurrences believed to be connected to the historic property.

The River House was a restaurant reported to have closed in 2009. But originally, it was two early 1900s built by brothers Thomas and Reed Bryan. The Bryan family, owned them until the 1970s, when they were merged and converted to a restaurant. The place is said to be haunted by the ghost of Perry Bryan, who appears as a young boy although he died while in his 40s. He is known to turn lights and fans on and off. Another reported mysterious event: Servers who were setting up for a large party came into the party room, which had already been set up, to find all the chairs turned over and the just-readied tables in disarray.
