I’ll be honest, I am always a little leery of places that market themselves primarily as a haunted hotel.
I’ll be honest, I am always a little leery of places that market themselves primarily as a haunted hotel. It’s different to be a HAUNTED HOTEL than a hotel that happens to be haunted. I can never decide if they are taking advantage of the craze with smoke and mirrors. In any event, the Shanley Hotel relies heavily on their haunted status and the tragedies that befell the people who lived there throughout the years. They sell ghost merchandise and market themselves as the Haunted Shanley. Although they attempt to provide history on the hotel’s website, their explanations suffer from a lack of clarity. For instance, this excerpt is taken directly from their website: Sal and Doug, while chatting on the front porch, noticed that some passers-by, upon approaching the Hotel, would walk on the other side of the street. Sal and Doug had to investigate. They came across the ‘secret room’, and as you can see in the picture, it looked pretty scary and someone had to go down first.” I am not entirely sure how we went from passers-by on the street and the front porch to some secret room (was the secret room located on the front porch?? Were the passers-by disappearing into oblivion and so they investigated to find them and found a secret room sucking in people who just happened to be waking by? And what photo are they talking about? I have no idea, nothing is labeled.) In any event, this hotel is supposedly haunted.
