THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Several buildings on the former University of Texas at Brownsville campus have developed reputations for unexplained paranormal activity. Students have reported apparitions, footsteps, and mysterious voices in older campus structures.
It is said that this campus sees a lot of ghostly activity. Ghosts of Cavalrymen and Victorian woman have been spotted, library books have flown off shelves, and jukeboxes play by themselves. The reason for the hauntings is that the art center was once a jail, and the library was once parade grounds where military deserters were hanged. Dorms were built on top of land that was once burial grounds, and the area, during both the Mexican-American War and the Civil War, was very busy.
