Reported Haunting
The Turkey Hotel is associated with reports of paranormal activity experienced by guests. Witnesses have described ghostly apparitions, phantom footsteps, strange noises, and unexplained encounters inside the historic hotel.
This 1927 bed and breakfast inn stands on the site of the previous foundations of a hotel that was damaged beyond repair during a severe tornado at the beginning of the twentieth century. Legend has it that the building has a resident male ghost, who haunts an upstairs room where he supposedly passed away when the building served as overnight quarters for railroad passengers. Guests staying here have reported lights turning on and off of their own accord and the feeling of someone climbing into bed with them. On one occasion, a visitor reported that his dog growled and barked at something he couldn’t see for the entire duration of their stay.
