The original lighthouse in this spot was built in 1736, but after storms and shore erosion caused the demise of not only it but the first three lighthouses here, the current, fourth structure was built.
The original lighthouse in this spot was built in 1736, but after storms and shore erosion caused the demise of not only it but the first three lighthouses here, the current, fourth structure was built. Folks here have witnessed apparitions and heard unexplained whistling and other sounds. Some apparitions were spotted wearing lightkeepers’ clothing, and another, that of a 5-year-old girl, warns visitors not to go up the lighthouse steps any further.
