THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Ghost stories at the University of Montana center on several historic campus buildings and residence halls. Students have reported apparitions, unexplained footsteps, mysterious voices, and shadow figures that continue to fuel campus folklore.
Several haunts reside here. In Brantley Hall, the ghost of a female student has been seen. She committed suicide after her family lost their ranch in the stock market crash of 1929. In Jeanette Rankin Hall, folks say a whole class of ghosts attends a lecture. In the Main Hall, unexplained screams have been heard, and in the University Theater live a ghost dog, a girl who was murdered, and a theater patron.
