A ghost called “The Colonel” is said to haunt this hotel, seen by almost all the staff between midnight and 4 a.m. He is usually seen in the ballroom and back hallways and appears as an older man dressed in black. Folks speculate that in life he was a decorated Civil War hero and may have owned the plantation that once stood where the hotel stands now.
