THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Uppertown Firefighter's Museum has been associated with reports of ghostly apparitions and unexplained activity connected to Astoria's historic waterfront. Visitors have described phantom footsteps, voices, and shadow figures.
This historic building was built in 1896 as an original brewery, before being converted to the town fire station. The building is now a museum preserving the past of the towns firefighting history; and perhaps a few ghosts as well. The building is allegedly haunted by the apparition of a sleepwalking fireman who fell to his death back in the 1920’s. Former occupants of the building would see him standing over them as they slept, and here lockers rattling by themselves. Today, visitors and staff claim to hear strange noises and disembodied footsteps on the third floor, but upon investigating, no on is ever found.
