THE STORY
Reported Haunting
Cleveland's Variety Theater is associated with reports of paranormal activity dating back to its years as a vaudeville venue. Witnesses have reported ghostly figures, phantom music, footsteps, and unexplained noises inside the theater.
1927 building The Variety Theater was a vaudeville house, then a movie theater until the early 1980s. After that, it was a rock concert venue until it closed in 1986. Now, locals say, it’s haunted by a white figure who hangs out on first floor by the water fountain. A man’s spirit also lingers here, peering from the upper balcony with red eyes. Noises of phantom workers can be heard on the stage as well. One of the ghosts is believed to be a man who fell to his death from the lighting scaffold.
