Velda Mound Park is associated with reports of fleeting apparitions around a phantom fire and a mysterious glowing white wolf accompanied by unexplained nighttime howling.
Velda Mound preserves the remains of an Apalachee mound-centered community occupied approximately 1450 to 1565 CE. Paranormal folklore surrounding the park describes brief visions of Indigenous people gathered around a fire that disappear almost immediately. Another recurring story describes a glowing white wolf seen on or near the grounds, sometimes accompanied by unexplained howling late at night.
