THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Victoria Theatre is associated with reports of paranormal activity common to historic performance venues. Witnesses have described ghostly figures, phantom footsteps, mysterious voices, and unexplained backstage occurrences.
It opened in 1866 and has been known as Turner Opera House, Grand Opera House, Victoria Opera House and Victoria Theatre. The likes of Harry Houdini, Sarah Bernhardt and Mark Twain have performed here, and one performer never left. The ghost is a 1920s actress who vanished from her locked dressing room after a performance. Her apparition and scent of rose perfume have been reported, as well as odd noises and electrical anomalies.
