Reported Haunting
Viewpoint Books, located in Columbus' historic former post office building, is associated with reports of unexplained footsteps, moving objects, strange sounds and a full-bodied apparition in the basement. Paranormal investigators have also reported EVP or ITC responses and unexplained motion-sensor activity near the basement stairwell.
Viewpoint Books occupies space in the historic former U.S. Post Office building on Washington Street in downtown Columbus. The building dates to the late nineteenth century and has served a variety of purposes during its long history. Paranormal reports associated with the property include unexplained footsteps, objects apparently moving without assistance, strange sounds and a full-bodied apparition reportedly seen in the basement. A paranormal investigation of the bookstore also produced reported EVP or ITC responses and unexplained motion-sensor activity near the basement stairwell. Historical research by investigators found that an undertaking business operated in part of the building during the early twentieth century and documented deaths associated with people residing in the building during a later period, although no particular reported spirit has been conclusively linked with those events.
