THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The Wedgwood Inn is associated with reports of unexplained activity connected to its long history. Guests have described phantom footsteps, mysterious voices, and apparitions inside the historic inn. Doors and objects are also said to move without an obvious cause.

This 1870 inn on the site of a British fort boasts a basement tunnel, where munitions once were stored, and a secret staircase. And to make it more like something out of a spooky movie, the skeleton of a Hessian soldier was found in a basement chimney. The secret staircase, with its hidden wall, were believed to have been used to hide runaway slaves. The ghost of a 12-year-old slave named Sarah has appeared to children here for several decades.
