Winnats Pass is associated with the tragic legend of Alan and Clara, a young couple reportedly murdered while traveling through the pass in the 18th century. Their spirits are said to haunt the isolated valley, where visitors have reported apparitions and unexplained sounds.
A soon-to-be-married couple made a stop around, but were robbed and killed by a group of miners. The couple have been reported along the pass seeking help.
