THE STORY

Reported Haunting

Built as a Congregational church in 1843, Winter Street Center served as an emergency hospital during Bath's deadly 1918 influenza epidemic. Paranormal investigators have since reported a child-like presence, unexplained footsteps, cries for help, strange lights, mist and apparitions. One investigation reportedly captured a child's voice saying 'I'm drowning,' while another encountered a presence identifying herself as a young girl named Rosie. A child apparition has also reportedly been seen in the sanctuary balcony.

Built in 1843-44 as the Winter Street Congregational Church, the Winter Street Center is one of Bath's most significant historic buildings. During the devastating 1918 influenza epidemic, the City of Bath used the church as one of several emergency hospitals. The former church has since become associated with extensive paranormal reports. Investigators and visitors have reported a child-like presence in the basement, unexplained footsteps, cries for help, apparitions, mist and orb-like anomalies, electrical disturbances, and possible intelligent responses during investigations. One reported EVP sounded like a child saying 'I'm drowning,' while another investigation reportedly encountered an entity identifying herself as a young girl named Rosie.
