THE STORY

Reported Haunting

A White Lady believed to be Klara von Helfenstein is said to roam the castle, accompanied by apparitions, strange lights and poltergeist activity.

Wolfsegg Castle is associated with the legend of Klara von Helfenstein, whose husband Ulrich von Laaber supposedly ordered her murder after discovering an affair. Amy's Crypt notes that historical evidence indicates Klara actually outlived her husband, but the legend nevertheless inspired stories of a White Lady roaming the castle, particularly around Klara's former bedroom. Reported phenomena include full-bodied apparitions, unusual light anomalies, electromagnetic disturbances and poltergeist-like activity. Another local legend concerns a mysterious cave or crevice known as "The Hole," where bones were reportedly discovered and strange animal-like noises were heard.
