THE STORY

Reported Haunting

The Wood County Historical Center occupies the former county infirmary, where visitors report apparitions, shadow figures, footsteps, and unexplained voices. Many accounts are linked to former residents and patients who lived and died on the property. The site has become a popular destination for paranormal investigations.

The Wood County Historical Center and Museum building used to house the Wood County Home/Infirmary, which opened in 1869 and operated until 1971. The museum opened in 1975. It is believed to be haunted by former patients of the infirmary. Reports have been made of an apparition of a lady in pjs and a man who walks with his arms outstretched. Footsteps, strange noises and orbs also have been reported in the building.
