THE STORY
Reported Haunting
The Wyoming Territorial Prison Museum is famous for reports of apparitions, shadow figures, phantom footsteps, and disembodied voices. Visitors frequently describe activity inside the prison cells and execution areas, with legends tied to former inmates and guards. It is considered one of Wyoming's best-known haunted sites.
Now a historical park, frontier town and museum, this former penitentiary once housed famed outlaw Butch Cassidy. Visitors to the site may get a glimpse of a ghost named Julius Greenwelch, who makes his home here.
